At 12:30 a.m. on June 1st, the old Jorge Chavez International Airport —the former gateway to the Peruvian capital, Lima—marked its final historic moment. With a symbolic turning off of the lights, the terminal located on Faucett Avenue, Callao region, officially closed its doors after more than 60 years, marking the end of an era for millions of Peruvians who saw it become the setting for farewells, welcomes, dreams, and reunions.
